Daffodils


Done earlier this month prior to leaving for Australia this landscape was painted quickly over an existing figure study. I am interested in structure without becoming too formal or cerebral. I also wanted to test out how things work when the major elements are pushed to the periphery. In other cases that may mean cropping an horizon line very close to the top edge of a canvas. In this case the grass expanse is interrupted only by a 'sapling'. The other elements are moved up and back or to the side.
