Sketching in Portugal
The opportunity to scoot away for a mixture of retreat and sketching break came about this past September. Having worked for some friends on a visual Identity for their nascent Portugal Art and Retreat Centre I had an invitation to spend some time there recently. Being away with a friend, and without any distractions, it became an important time of reflection and drawing. I spent a good portion of time sketching the figure. I find it such a vital process–trying to capture the human form unposed.
I also completed a few local scenes using watercolour–a medium I don't use frequently. They are pretty straightforward visual records and work as excercises in looking.
