Sometimes a painting and its 'meaning' emerge after the event. Meaning being implied rather than intentional. A painting may carry a number of implications, none strict or exact but present nonetheless. This painting under the working title–Floating Garden–came after another painting failed. It is an echo of a previous work called 'My Father The Gardener' (though this figure is based on an unknown gardener). I have an interest in, but no thorough knowledge of, Japanese artists like Hokusai. This painting is temperamentally, not stylistically connected to that interest.
